Plaster Skull Multiples Project
The aim of this project was to explore the effects of repetition in composition and to practice the process of reproducing an object.
This is a plastic action figure spoulder shaped like a sabertooth skull (from Action Man X missions - Dr X & Dragon X). I replicated this object using casting.
I scanned the skull using the Artec Space Spider 3D scanner and 3D printed it in 1:1, 1.3:1, 1.6:1 and 2:1 scales to get variety in size.
I made silicone molds for each skull size and casted in plaster. I drilled nasal apertures into the plaster skulls after I took them out of the molds. Including the pieces that broke during the process turned out to be aesthetically desirable in the final composition.
